About this site

What is this site?
This blog is a record of my work with the Monome 40h. I first found out about the monome (or ‘the box’) on a Future Music DVD, talking about the controller that daedelus was using in his live shows. Like alot of people I still think electronic music has a long way to go in terms of live performance. The “bloke checking his email behind a screen” approach has never been much kop, and this seemed to add something to the mix. When the guys at monome said they were producing units for sale I decided to get hold of one.
It’s also a good opportunity to try out TextPattern, the CMS behind this site.

What is the 40h?
The 40h is the first model to be produced by monome. Pretty simply put, it’s a box with 64 backlit buttons on it, arranged in 8 rows of 8. That’s about it, and the idea is that you can use it pretty much any way you like. There is already a selection of Max/MSP patches that the monome people have produced, but it’s kind of down to the owner to see where they will take it. For more information see the Monome Site
